Year 4 enjoyed a beautiful Empty Classroom Day on Wednesday with the sun shining all day. They kicked the day off with English, using natural objects to make descriptions before heading off to the field for Sport Day practice during P.E. After the children had enjoyed playing in the woods at break time, they split off into their maths groups; Mrs Forrest’s class were exploring symmetry, Mrs Burge’s class were working on 2D shapes and Mrs Gibson’s class were learning about angles in the quad. Over lunch time, the children loved eating their picnic lunch altogether in the outdoor classroom whilst Mrs Hall-Palmer lit the fire ready for toasting marshmallows. After lunch the children had some individual quiet time, sitting calmly reflecting on their day so far. During Humanities, the children used their knowledge from their trip to East Head to create a coastal scene using natural materials. In art, the children worked in small groups to create fairy houses out of clay before finally, Mr B joined the children in the woods for form time to read part of their story. They had such a fun day and left the woods full of spirit!
