As part of this year’s Creative Arts Week the children from Reception to Form VI were treated to a special production of ‘Alice’ on Tuesday afternoon. The Dormouse and the Mad Hatter welcomed the children into the Palmer Hall for ‘tea’ whilst Alice sat calmly reading her book. As the story unfolded it was clear that audience participation was expected and children joined in the tea party and croquet game and were invited to be the jury at the trial of the Knave of Hearts. Even Miss Cedola agreed to ‘take tea’ with the Mad Hatter (quite the maddest hatter I have ever seen) and Mrs Manson was given no choice in joining a rather morose Mock Turtle in the Lobster quadrille – not a dance she is familiar with!
The four talented actors brought life to the story with their simple props and rapid changes of costumes and were delighted to answer a range of questions from the audience after the performance. Well done Reception and Form I for really entering into the spirit of things and coming up with such great questions.
